Flight 19, a group of five U.S. Navy bombers, vanished during a 1945 training mission. No wreckage was ever found.
On December 5, 1945, five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers, known as Flight 19, took off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a routine training mission. The flight plan included simple maneuvers and a return to base, but the planes and their 14 crew members vanished without a trace. Despite extensive searches and numerous theories, no wreckage or evidence of the fate of Flight 19 has ever been found. The incident is one of the most famous mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle.
