Overnight, a dense forest appeared in a barren desert. How did the Sahara Forest come to be?

Satellite images from one day show desert, the next, a lush forest. There's no evidence of human intervention or natural phenomenon.
In 1973, a French satellite passing over the Sahara Desert captured images of a barren landscape. The next day, the area was a dense forest. Scientists were baffled. No storms or natural phenomena could explain such rapid growth. There was no sign of human intervention, either. To this day, the Sahara Forest remains a thriving ecosystem, its origin still unaccounted for.
